About

My name is Michael Sanborn and I’ve been an artist ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil. One of my earliest and happiest memories from growing up was when my step-father, a drafter, would take me to the art supply store. There was a box of paper scraps there that he would let me dig through and collect to take home and draw on. I loved the variety of paper colors, weights, and textures. There was something magical about them, full of promise.

When I am not teaching computer animation, I work in charcoals, paint digitally and traditionally in acrylics, craft linoleum prints, write and illustrate books, and create board games and role-playing games. I’m sort of all over the board when it comes to art. I’ve been married 20 years now to a beautiful and talented graphic designer. We have two beautiful girls, aged four years apart.

Feel free to check out my ArtStation account at https://www.artstation.com/michaelsanborn. I try to post regularly on the art site and give some insight into my process on the 30 or 40 projects I have running at any one time (it is really more like 4 or 5 but I never have a shortage of ideas rolling around in the back of my head waiting for an opening.) I really do need to find a way to stop having ideas for new art projects. There is nothing I would rather be doing than creating artwork of one kind or another. Hopefully you feel the same!
