"The Solvers and the Mystery of the Swamp Creature - number 1" from my Solvers series. This series of images were done as an assignment for a SCBWI workshop I attended. The assignment was to create 3 or 4 spreads with animals or children in a variety of situations and moods. It was a test to see how consistent you can keep the look of your characters when presented with a variety of environments and lighting situations. I didn't really have a story to go along with this one (first time for everything) but thought it might be neat to do a swamp based mystery with kid detectives. In this image, the kids are making their way into the swamp, early in the morning, in the hopes they can solve the mystery of the swamp creature.
