"Arlene the Whale cover" from "The Arlene the Whale and the Dry and Up Above the Water Places". Arlene the whale has a problem, she has been eating a lot and is growing bigger. Too big, she thinks. In an effort to figure out what is happening to her, she swims the seas and speaks with many of her friends. This graphite work on illustration board later became the base of a cover painting for the book.
