"Arlene cools down Professor Fumblegump's Experiment" from "Arlene the Whale and the Dry and Up Above the Water Places". In the course of Arlene asking all her friends what is happening to her, she has to help Professor Fumblegump cool down one of his overheating experiments located on the top of his lighthouse home. As with the other illustrations from the Arlene the Whale book, I started playing around with breaking the borders. This graphite work on illustration board later became the base layer of an acrylic painting.
