"Sally the Mermaid Princess Blows Her Conch Horn" from "Arlene the Whale and the Dry and Up Above the Water Places". Arlene has asked for Princess Sally's help and Sally summons all her subjects to search all over the oceans for an answer to Arlene's problem. As with the other illustrations from the Arlene the Whale book, I started playing around with breaking the borders. This graphite work on illustration board later became the base layer of an acrylic painting.
