"Frank the Christmas Squid" from my holiday card series. I started this series with the traditional Cristmas ensemble cast and have just begun working on a non-traditional cast of characters. In any case, I do one of these each year to send to family, friends, and clients. This is Frank, the Christmas squid who brings pretty bits of coral and little metal things to all the good little mer-boys and mer-girls, appearing and disappearing in a cloud of the thickest ink. This piece was done as charcoal on illustration board and later became the base of an acrylic painting.
