The original show for which I created the archetypal cards changed and fell though but I did manage to land another show with this series of work. This time I was the only artist in the show and I needed to fill some wall space so I decided to try working larger scale on canvas with the same characters, only with a little more pointed and meaningful symbolism. Here is the Empress torn between a choice. I won't bore you with a lengthy explaination of the symbolism as the symbols I chose were more common and easily interpreted. I will tell you that the repetition of 3s is a conscious decision. On a side note, I found a new variation to my technique. I'd never worked charcoal on gessoed canvas before but I loved the result.
