In the earlier conceptual phase of Monster Island, I bounced around the idea of making a simple game with the characters involving the teaching of simple economic principles. Characters would stake out plots of land and develop them with mining, farming, and the like. These lands would produce goods and the monsters would buy and sell their way towards either winning or losing the game. Each time a monster performed an action on a parcel of land, a simple animation would play involving the action. In this storyboard, the character Glicky has purchased a plot of land and set up a mining operation on it.
