Finished painting the cat. My daughter should be sooo happy now. She might even wait 3 minutes before telling me the next one to work on. So I added some food stains to the shirt, after all, he is the ship’s cook. Even if he were dressing up for the portrait, I imagine he would be a little limited with respect to clean clothes.
Worked on a painting for a colleague of mine. It is soon to become the header image for a Florida Nature Blog (http://floridanatureuncovered.com) Not to worry about the empty space below, that is where all the bloggy type stuff goes. Yes I am mindful of my compositions.
“Princess Burlap Sack” is a triptych created with the intention of exploring the use of very specific imagery to spur the creation of a narrative where there was not one initially. I also thought something whimsical and HUGE would be fun for my daughter’s wall. Turns out it was just a little too huge for her so I had to find another home for it.
I finally finished the page 15 painting, or at least got it where I want it for the time being (are these things ever really done?) It took me a little while with many comparisons to the cover illustration to get the color where I wanted it. I’m almost hoping I don’t sell these at the September show so I have something to compare the later ones to.
